Our work across the Commonwealth is noteworthy. We have joined with member clubs, community partners, and Virginia State Parks to preserve and protect the landscape of Virginia. We have planned for an important milestone, our 100th birthday. And we have replaced disappointment with creativity and grace.

I look forward to the future as we continue to protect Virginia’s natural resources, preserve historic landscapes, and inspire others to join us in this mission. To our members, I extend my deepest gratitude for the privilege of serving as the 50th President of the Garden Club of Virginia.

~Jean Gilpin, May 2020

Nina Mustard introduced First Vice President Jean Gilpin, paying tribute to her by noting what a gifted leader Jean is, how Jean has been her right-hand person throughout her term, and what a special friend Jean has become to her. With those words, Jean accepted the gavel from Nina in Martinsville on May 17, 2018, to become the 50th President of the Garden Club of Virginia.

“The Garden Club of Virginia exists to celebrate the beauty of the land, to conserve the gifts of nature and to challenge future generations to build on this heritage.”

These worthy goals have guided the Garden Club of Virginia since 1920.
